DECLaser 5100 won't print text via parallel port

We have a DECLaser 5100 connected to our Alpha via an Extended Systems
"PocketPrintServer", an ethernet interface about half the size of a paperback
that connects to the parallel port. I can't seem to get the printer to recognize
plain ASCII text!?! We are running DU V3.0. I'm not sure if the problem is only
configuration (printer or DU), or if it's a harware problem.

This is the entry in /etc/printcap:

Pocket:\
        :lp=:\
        :rm=PocketPrinterServer:\
        :rp=MYQUEUELF:\
        :sd=/usr/spool/Pocket:\
        :ps=non_PS:\
        :mx#0

Any ideas as to what detail I'm missing???
