Hello again...
This is the 1st question in a brief series about communications. I
would like to have the machine page me when things awry, ergo I have to get
it dial out. We have dial-out modems hooked up to a terminal server on a
system running LAT and TCP/IP. I've set up a LAT connection to one of the
modems on the terminal server. Here's what we can & can't do:
1) I can telnet to the terminal server, and issue at commands. The problem
there is that I get 2 of everything I type, i.e. aattddtt 11223344556677
(which is cosmetic, but I'd like to know how to fix that for debugging reasons).
Question: How do I turn off the double characters?? I've looked at telnet
settings and terminal server settings and haven't come up with anything that
works.
Question: How do I script telnet sessions (so they can run automatically)??
2) I can have a print queue that prints my pager number to the modem. This
ALMOST works. After it dials the number, it rings and then hangs up
immediately.
Question: How do I get lpd to wait longer so that the number can dial
successfully??
Thanks ahead of time...
Karl
