My original question:
Subj: DCL Translator/Emulator
We are migrating from VAX/VMS to ALPHA/DU4.0. My problem is finding a DCL to
UNIX translator or emulator. For those who have gone this path before, did you
use a translator? an emulator? Which one would you recommend? Where can I buy
this translator or emulator from? Any suggestion is welcome.

Here are the responses:
1) Don't translate. It does not make sense to translate. VMS and UNIX are to-
tally different.
2) Bad idea to use emulator.
3) Boston Business System (www.bbc.com) has VCL, VMAIL.
4) Write your own translator.
5) Try gatekeeper ftp site for relevant software.
6) Use perl. It's easy to use. Get book "Introduction to Perl" from O'Reilly
(the Llama Book).
7) Sector7 (www.sector7.com) has emulator VX/DCL. Also has translator for VAX
BASIC to UNIX.

I will investigate the different options above and post my conclusion.
