Graphics Card Resolution Settings

Hi all,

On a Alpha 255/233 system with the graphics card PBXGB-AA, the manual says
it has a Rotary Video Selection Frequency Switch.

Currently the screen resolution is 1024x768. I am used to 1280x1024 which was
on our older system DEC3000/300.

Would it be just the matter of changing this selection to the higher monitor
resolution ? There seems to be several options for this resolution, the
difference been the "Pixel Frequency" and "Refresh Rate".

I do have a monitor that can handle any of its stated settings. The thing I am
worried about is if I change this, would the X server function properly, do I
need to make changes to the X Server config so that it works at 1280x1024
resolution ???

Its config now is:

screen #0:
  dimensions: 1024x768 pixels (342x275 millimeters)
  resolution: 76x71 dots per inch
  depths (1): 8

Thanks for any help
