Greetings All,

We have an Alpha 4100 Server with a very large root partition
(about 2 gigs). The root partition and the primary swap partition
are mirrored to a second drive that is identically configured. No
other file systems are on the system disk.

If we bring down the system using "shutdown -h now", we have no
problems with the subsequent boot. If we bring down the system
using "init 0", one of the root plexes comes up stale everytime
and requires a resynchronization.

Has anybody seen this? I have been told by many UNIX experts
that init 0 was the preferred method of bringing down the OS.

        Any thoughts or suggestions?

Lastly, yes, I realize that a 2 gig root partition is a
bit much. It wasn't my call, please hold back your comments.

        Sincerely,

        William Kuderka
