Floppy disk question

Hello all,

Has DU changed the way it handles floppy disks from V3.2c to V4.0? I've
searched the list archives and found quite a few questions about floppies,
but very few summaries. Well, anyway, here is my problem. On my V3.2c
system I can run the following command:
tar cvf /dev/fd0a filename
without a problem. On my V4.0 system /dev/fd* didn't even exist. So I
did a "MAKEDEV fd0" which created /dev/fd0a, /dev/fd0c, /dev/rfd0a and
/dev/rfd0c. Then I tried the same tar command, but it fails and spits
out the following error:
tar: cannot open /dev/fd0a: No such device or address
Any ideas? My next step will be to open up my box and make sure the
floppy drive is actually connected. I will summarize.

Thanks in advance,
Mike
