Dear Netters
long time ago I asked:
>Is there anybody out there who knows how to make a RZ-56 SCSI disk spin up
at power on?
>
>thanks in advance
>
I got 5 mails.
This IS a Micropolis made Drive, but DEC did the Frimware. That is why:
You may (have to?) ignore the Micropolis-jumpers!
All setting are done in software. The only working way is:
>I think the RZ56 and RZ57 used a mode page bit to control this. You
>should be able to change with scu(8) on Digital UNIX or ULTRIX V4.4
>and later. For ULTRIX before V4.4 use rzdisk.
Thanx to alan_at_nabeth.cxo.dec.com (Alan Rollow - Dr. File System's Home for
Wayward Inodes.)
All others suggested to set jumpers.
I had to wait to get access to an old Ultrix Box and then used
rzdisk -c ask /dev/rrz3c
on OSF/UNIX use scu!
