moving the /tmp directory

Alpha 200
D-Unix 3.2a
1 x 1gig disk
1 x 4gig disk

Hi managers

Is it easy to move the /tmp directory from the root file system to another?

The reason I ask is that the Alpha 200 is our mail server. We use the dPOP
server and when a user sends a *large* mail message then the temporary files
created in processing this message fill the /tmp directory causing the
machine to stop handling mail. The /tmp directory is on the root partition
on the 1meg disk. I would like to move it to the 4meg disk to allow the
sending/receiving of large mail messages (allowed by giving /tmp much more
disk space to occupy). Is it as easy as creating a new /tmp directory and
linking from the root /tmp to the new /tmp? Or will all hell break loose?
And, if it is possible, is it a good idea?

Thanks for any info

Paul
