Hello - I updated the firmware on an Alphaserver 2000 using the firmware
CD version 3.7 that came ith DU 4.0a distribution - then upgraded from
4.0 to 4.0a
I noticed I had lost my graphics driver in the process - so shutdown
to run ECU 1.9 to check my conf.
When booting up I got the message (exact text I'm unsure of)
that NVRAM was invalid and please run ECU
At the console prompt I typed ECU
and it said something like
Initializing system to run ARC firmware
then
NVRAM is being updated ... please wait
Well I waited ... and waited ... and waited and then got fed up after
over 1 hour - should I have waited longer ?
So I updated the firmware again ... and tried to run ECU again and kept
getting stuck in this NVRAM being updated lark.
Anyway I finally retarded the firmware from the 3.6 CD and this
allowed me to run ARC and then ECU OK.
I think there is something iffy about the 3.7 CD !
On a 2100 the update failed claiming an invalid image for the SRM
file !
Anybody else had problems with this ?
