Hi managers,
Does anyone know if it is possible to connect to DUnix from a
DECserver 100? (Yes, I know they're ancient, but we have to keep using
them till we can afford something better...)
Scenario: We have a number of DECserver 100's and 200/MC's, which
download from an Ultrix box, dylan.
On cygnus (AlphaServer 2000 4/233 running DU 3.2C), I ran latsetup to
start lat and add the following entries to /etc/inittab:
lat620:34:respawn:/usr/sbin/getty /dev/lat/620 console vt100
lat621:34:respawn:/usr/sbin/getty /dev/lat/621 console vt100
.
.
lat643:34:respawn:/usr/sbin/getty /dev/lat/643 console vt100
On the DECservers, the command "show services" lists the services on
both dylan and cygnus. From the 200's I can connect to both dylan and
cygnus, but from the 100's I can only connect to dylan. The command
"connect cygnus" gives the error
Local -237- Connection to CYGNUS not established
Access denied
which according to the DECserver manual means the connection request was
rejected by the service node.
I added some BSD style ttys just in case that was the problem (that's
what dylan has set up), but it made no difference. Is there something
else I need to do to grant access, or are the DECserver 100 just not up
to the job?
TIA, Helen
