Disklabeling fails in 3.2G

Regards managers,

I have a strange problem labeling a rz26l with 'disklabel' under 3.2G. A
short recap:

1. 'disklabel -rw rz0 rz26l' produces

"disklabel: ioctl DIOCWDINFO: Open partition would move or shrink
Use alternate partition"

so I hurry along using /dev/rrz0c remembering that this is a common
errormessage when trying to shrink a partition using the default 'rz0'
device. So I do:

2. disklabel -rw /dev/rrz0c rz26l which also fails with the same error.

After doing a /usr/lbin/zeero on the disk (rz0a and rz0c) and still getting
the errors I realized I was fighting against an unknown monster. I have
tried everything I can think of, everything produces the above
errormessage.
B.t.w, 'disklabel -r rz0' and 'disklabel -r /dev/rrz0c' both give

"Disk is unlabeled or, /dev/rrz0c does not start at block 0 of the disk"

Any ideas ?
