Thank you for the quick replies. I got six within 40 minutes
so I'm in a hurry here. My problem was my old-fashioned view of
the world. In essence, no disktab entry is necessary for OSF1/v3.2
(not yet officialy DU until I upgrade to 3.2c). Simply:
% disklabel -rw /dev/rrz14c FOO
% disklabel -re /dev/rrz14c
The drive is on the SCSI "B" adapter with ID=6 (14=1*8+6) ergo rz14.
There must NOT already exist a disktab entry "FOO" (good bet). The
first command writes a default label, the second is used to edit
that label. This will work (I'm told) for all well-behaved SCSI
drives. -pat
