Hi All,
On the question of a file system filling up when it
'df' said it wasnt full.

Almost all memtioned that 'df' will show a filesystem
full if a program has left a huge file opened even if it
has been deleted.
This was the case with a user running a script from cron.
The script had a bug in it which generated the 1gig+ files.
It happened again but this time I found the 1gig+ file only
because it filled the filesystem to 97% else it got removed.
Others mentioned the metadata on the harddisk may need
to be increased. Luckily this is was not the case.
Thanks to all who responded, I got a bit panicky because
the machine is a production machine & I never saw this
happen before.
