Recovering data past End of Tape

Hi everybody,
is there any way to recover a filesystem which is located on a tape,
past end-of-tape?
Here is what happened: a tape containing a lot of savesets had been left in
a drive (by mistake), and a cron job begun a dump at the beginning of it.
I succeded in stopping it almost immediately, then just the first saveset
on the tape has been damaged. Now, I absolutely need to restore some
important files that are stored in the 4th filesystem on the tape (which I
am sure have not been damaged by the process overwriting the tape).
If I try to "mt fsf", I get "incorrect format" errors. Do you know if there
is any way to recover such a filesystem?
Thank you very much in advance
