postscript to NEC p5200 dot matrix printer

Hello,
      I am required to get an NEC p5200 24pin dot matrix printer
working as a general printer(ughh).
This means that it must be able to print postscript.
Initially I tried ghostscript as a filter, but it only has NEC p6 drivers.
The resultant pages were garbage.

The queue works when I print to it from an NT box using the windows
NEC p5200 drivers, so the printer is fine. The queue also works perfectly
with text files.

Anybody got any idea for a postscript -> NEC p5200 filter ?
