DU 4.0b crashes using debuggers

I've gotta believe this has been seen before...

In the last week, we've had three crashes of our Alphaserver 1000A running
DU 4.0b. In the first two cases, the developer was running dbx, and in the
third case, a different developer was running ladebug. I looked at the
corresponding crash-data files in /var/adm/crash, but about the only thing
that stuck out was:

_panic_string: 0xfffffc000067e348 = "trap: illegal instruction"

I've got the core and kernel files as well, although I'm reluctant to run
the debugger on them when it's the debugger that seems to cause the crash.

My question is, is this a known bug, and can I get a patch for it? I
looked through the index of READMEs on Digital's FTP site, but didn't see
anything apparent or relevant.

TIA.

If there is any other info/data that would be of use, let me know.

TIA.
