I posted the following query a week ago. Most of you advised using DEC's
PCI Fast ethernet card and not any old PCI Fast Ethernet card due mainly to
the availability of the driver.
Special thanks to Scott Johnson who provided some hints on how to connect
the two machines on their own private ethernet. I've included his hints
below.
>We have a couple of AlphaStations which we would like to connect together
>on a private ethernet link in addition to their current link on the "public
>network". We're thinking of going with a Fast Ethernet wire between them.
>Can anybody recommend PCI-Fast Ethernet cards for the Alphas? Will any old
>card do or do we need cards for which DEC has drivers?

>The reason behind this is that we believe NSF transfers between the 2
>Alphastations are tying up the network. We hope this will alleviate the
>problem by cross mounting the disks via the private link.

>I would also like to hear recommendations and hints on how to do this.
>Gotchas are particularly appreciated.
