Dear Managers,
After posting my original summary (some of my users couldn't
delete their own files even though nothing appeared to be using them),
I received a message from Steven Newton <snewton_at_oac.hsc.uth.tmc.edu>,
indicating that lockd can continue to hold a lock on a file even
though nothing is using it. Per Steve's suggestion I have been
stopping and restarting lockd each night. Not perfect (I have some
night owls who might lose legitimate locks and people trying to delete
files may have to wait 24 hours), but it seems to have dramatically
reduced the complaints. Thanks to Steve and my apologies for being a
little slow in posting this.
Larry
