I'm experiencing a very odd problem.
I have an AlphaServer 4100 5/300 running DU 4.0a with
no problems.
We received a new AlphaServer 5/400, and DU 4.0b. After
installing UNIX, the generic kernel, and any kernel
I build doesn't see the serial ports, the parallel port,
or the floppy controller and floppy disk.
If I take the 4.0b generic kernel and put it on the machine
which is running fine, when it boots it sees ace0, ace1, lpt0,
etc. no problem. So I don't think the kernel is the problem.
It seems specific to the new machine.
I have updated the console firmware with the 3.8 CD, and
run the EISA configuration utility (made no changes), but
still can't see the devices on the new machine.
When the old machine boots, the kernel prints these messages:
Mar 25 14:21:25 alphaosf vmunix: gpc0 at eisa0
Mar 25 14:21:25 alphaosf vmunix: pci0 at mcbus0 slot 4

Mar 25 14:21:26 alphaosf vmunix: tu0 at pci0 slot 3
When the new one boots, it doesn't find the serial ports, parallel
port, or floppy:

Any ideas?
