SUMMARY: Escape sequences in MAN pages

Well, am I not just the idiot!!
Send off my problem about escape sequences and I have the guy on the
other side of the office reply with the answer!!! Should have asked him
in the first place...

Worked like a charm. Also I should mention that if you use the 'catman'
program to rebuild the whatis database you should use the command 'catman
-w' to leave out the MAN page reformating.
