For replying to my post.
The consensus was that Jon Forrest document was still of current for
DU 4.0B - Thanks for the confirmation. Last weekend we took the plunge
and upgraded our cluster.
2 of us took them all ( 45 systems) down at 5:00pm friday and all were
back up running 4.0B by 5:00pm Saturday. We booted each client off a
"custom" CD which NFS mounted one of the servers disks and then
restored a "standard" root partition onto the client.
To give a clean boot I had to do a couple of very minor additional
edits to S00inet and find a statically linked version of cut.
I have had a frantic few days trying to get all the other software I
upgraded at the same time all working correctly - hence the delay in
providing this summary.
Tim.

My Original question:
For many years we have been happily running with a cluster of
workstations in a "dataless" environment and this has grown to some
45 alpha machines.
These are currently running DU3.2G with a setup almost identical to
that described by Jon Forrest. (many thanks for this invaluable document)
Next weekend we plan up upgrade all the cluster to 4.0B.
I am inquiring if anyone has carried out a similar upgrade in this
environment and if there are any gothca's or even better is there an
update to Jon's document?
Many thanks
Tim.
