We are converting from a VMS environment to a Digital Unix environment.
We need all machines to have access to large amounts of disk space with
a high I/O transfer rate.
When we used VMS, we connected the machines to multiple HSJs via CI. All
machines had equal access to the drives so there were no problems if one
of the machines failed.
The CI option isn't available under Digital Unix so I'm wondering if
there is any clean way of putting large amounts of data onto Unix. The
NFS solution is unwieldy due to having to purchase extra machines and
failover machines just to serve out the data.
Are there any products, new products, or products in development out
there which fit the job? Or any products in development that will help?
I will summarise back to the list.
