Hello Managers,
we have a couple of performance related questions.
1) When using the CA Performance Advisor and running the Process Statistic option we get the following results from the CPU Focus report. A user running a batch job over the period has used 135% of the CPU (average). This seems fine until we review the graph of TOP CPU% USERS over the same period. This gives the a result of 60% of CPU. Our machine is a 3 cpu 2100 5/250 so I'm assuming that the 60% indicated is over the three cpu's?
2) If we compare like for like then on my calculations the graph would be 180% to allow it to be compared to the CPU focus report figure of 135%. Has any one similiar experience of these tool with respect to cpu figures?
3) When running a similar batch job on a single cpu we were expecting to see a high utilisation of the cpu it binds to from the same graphs. This has not been the case.
Can we them assume that this batch job is taking as much of the CPU as it requires? Or can we assume that there is another limiting factor with the system or application?
All of the above was benchmarked on a 3 CPU 2100 5/250 DU 3.2d.
Many thanks
