[Q] Rash of machine check errors: fact or fiction??

Hi, Admins.

Casey just posted a question about an error he saw on his 1000A:

Machine Check error ffffff00018705bf Corrected ECC error in
        Memory during D-Cache fill
        Fill syndrome = 00000000000000b5
Single Bit error in Quadword 0 at bint <47> in a Data bit
           ...

This is, I believe, about the 7th posting I've seen like this one
(including my own) in the last few weeks. I've yet to see a definitive
summary (including my own) of what anyone thinks might be going on.
(We thought the errors went away, but 1 just resurfaced recently.)

Does anyone think that new versions of hardware or software might
be producing these errors which we've not seen before? Perhaps I'm
paranoid, but it seems like we've seen a lot of these recently
where "none had gone before".

Any ideas welcome. Thanks
