I've got an AlphaStation 200 4/100 running DU 4.0a with a PCI slot as
well as an ISA slot available. The on-board SCSI controller is
narrow/single-ended. I've got fast-wide single-ended disks I'd like to
hang on this machine, so I need to add a fast-wide single-ended SCSI
controller.
The problem is, DEC-Direct before-sales tech support tells me DEC has not
blessed the use of their PCI fast-wide single-ended SCSI controller
(KZPDA-AA) for this machine. All they can officially recommend is their
fast-wide *differential* PCI card (KZPSA-BB) plus their
differential/single-ended converter box (DWZZB-AA), which together list
for about $1800 (ouch).
- Has anyone successfully run a DEC fast-wide single-ended SCSI
controller (KZPDA-AA) on an AS 200 4/100 (or 166, or 233)?
- Are there any fast-wide single-ended cards from OTHER vendors that will
work on an AS 200 4/100 (or 166, or 233) running Digital Unix?
