Hi DU Admins

My question was about the best upgrade path from 3.2c to 4.0b.
Thanks to Dr. Tom Blinn and Kris Chandrasekhar for their replies.

Kris recommended the path 3.2c -> 4.0 -> 4.0b because it's one less
step and because to upgrade from 3.2c to 3.2g it may be necessary to
undo patches that have been applied to 3.2c.

Tom recommended the 3.2c -> 3.2g -> 4.0a -> 4.0b path because although
it's one more step the 3.2c -> 3.2g step is trivial. He also
recommended freeing as much disk space in root as possible and increasing
the partition size to at least 96MB before attempting the upgrade
from 3.2g to 4.0a.

Tom also supplied this information about 4.0c which I'm including
because it might be of interest to others:

> Don't bother to wait for V4.0C -- it can be installed ONLY on the new (not
> even announced yet) workstation configuration it's intended for -- it will
> not install on your existing system, and you can't installupdate to it on
> your existing system (unless you know undocumented tricks, and then you'd
> have an unsupported system, so you wouldn't want to do it).

Cheers
Ian
