name change

hello there,
i'm new to this listserv so i'm not sure this has been discussed before.
i have to change the name of my AlphaServer 1000A, DU4.0b .
can i just copy the kernel file and rebuild it- like so:
#cp OLDNAME NEWNAME
#/usr/sbin/doconfig -c NEWNAME

then change the name and address in netconfig
then change the name in rc.config
and reboot?

am i missing something or should it be that easy?
