SUMMARY: nohup and init.d scripts; failing to stay alive at boot

Don't have the original subject line I used :(
Anyway, thanks to everyone who replied! The easiest solution came to me
from Andy at Starlink (star_at_uclan.ac.uk) who suggested I put a sleep
command right after the program in the init.d script is called.
That worked wonders. Thanks Andy!
