Good afternoon from London!
A colleague of mine has a question about LSM.
Scenario:
- root filesystem on one disk
- other disks in use, which are under the control of LSM
- regular backups are taken of all filesystems (assume vdump)
- root disk dies
The main query is whether the system will be fully operational if the root disk
is replaced, and root filesystem restored from backup tape? Apparently others
have had bad experiences with not all LSM information being restored.
My understanding is that a restore of the root filesystem from tape restores
everything to an operational state, which of course includes the LSM info - but
I just wanted to make sure before making a recommendation.
thanks in advance!
regards,
Matt
