Can I boot DU from a RAID disk?

Managers,

I thought I saw this question asked once on the list, but I can't find it
in the archives, so I'll ask again:

I'm attempting to convert our Alphaserver 1000's UFS root partition to an
ADVFS partition prior to upgrading from 3.2 to 4.0. We have a spare disk
on our RAID Array 200 controller that has plenty of space, but I vaguely
recall reading somewhere that you could not boot from a disk on a RAID
controller.

Any ideas?

TIA

        Don
