newfs

     Hi
     
     There is a very small section in the Digital UNIX system
     administration guide that describes the newfs command. It's on page
     7-14. It says we must specify the unmounted, raw device for the newfs
     command. I was able to do the command with non-raw device (/dev/vol).
     and it works. So I don't know the implication of not using the raw
     device. --can someone please shed some light on this.
