Thanks to ed_at_pigdog.niehs.nih.gov for trying to help me out
with the ba353 config question I had. unfortunately, only
1 response from this and although trying a few scenarios,
it still doesn't work. The solution for me at this time was
to install internal disks rather than using the ba353 box.

following is the original post

Hi,

I'm trying to add a ba353-aa storageworks box to a DEC2000
model 500 system. Although I see the devices ok on the system
and the storageworks box, the system will not boot. I believe
I have some kind of termination problem. I've tried terminating
the storageworks box, even though it is self terminating. I only
have a one meter cable on it. All the scsi devices appear to be
correct. There are none conflicting. Even if I have all the
internal disks disconnected and only one disk in the storageworks
box, there are problems.

The scsi devices do not conflict with the host id.

I guess my question is, does anyone know if...

1) a ba353-aa is a legit hardware config to add on to a DEC2000
   model 500 system?

2) if so, does anyone know if a console command or jumper has to
be enabled on the system to make the system recognize there is a
storageworks box on its scsi port?

There is no such command at the console prompt as "set control_scsi_term
external" as there is on an alphaserver400.

thanks,
Allan
