PPP and/or SLIP setup

        Dear managers,
I'm starting the process to connect a little bunch
of modems to a new machine to provide local and internet
access to a group of people working in the department.
I'm looking for suggestions on what I MUST DO, and what
it's better to avoid :( in setting up dial-in connections.
A picture of the future configuration is:
A DU box (probably AStation 255 or AStation 500) running
DU4.0B; a 8 line serial PCI card [PBXDA-AB] as suggested
by local Digital representative and 6 to 8 modems (US
        Robotics Courier).
Are there any drawback on this configuration ? What is
the best choice in your experience: SLIP or PPP ? And
is there anything wrong with the documentation (pppd,
ppp_manual_setup, or equivalents for SLIP) ?

Thanks a lot (I'll summarize anything in about 1 or 2
        weeks ...)
