Hi,
As of 4/97, the Dec CSLG list contains the OSMS (Optical Storage
Management Software). In the past we used a CD-ROM jukebox software
from Tracer with our Pioneer 1804 drive (18 CD jukebox). Since we
had quite a few problems with that package (the package itself is
fine, the problem is that the Gear package has a tweaked tracer
driver inside, and the two packages don't really like each other)
I'd like to give this a try. Three questions:
1. Do I have any chance? From the SPD I can't determine if the software
will work with our drive (I know it's not supported).
2. Is there a version coming out that actually works with 4.x? The latest I
have is osms v1.5, which supports (according to the SPD) 3.2c->3.2f. I'm
bit confused since DUnix 4.0 has been out for a while and Dec *is*
working on this product. Why didn't they port it to 4.x? Or the 1.5
version is just a bug fix version of 1.4 (previous layered product set)
and there is no active development of this product?
3. Assuming a version will be available for DUnix before the next layered
products are out (7/97), how to order it? SPD has a part number
(QA-2VRAA-H8) for it, but it seems to include a license which I
already have through CSLG (and $185 for a CD seems to be a bit high).
Thanks,
Gyula
