AltaVista(tm) Search Intranet Private eXtension V1.0?

We're looking into AVSI for indexing and searching our campus web servers,
but getting any sort of technical info on the "product" is like pulling teeth.
Anyone out there using this? Is there a mailing list somewhere for it?
