The consesus was that the implemetation of threads in 3.2 was too broken to
allow JDK 1.1 to be properly ported. We are stuck with 1.02(which we already
have)
<sigh>
So students are left using an OS at home(win95) that has left Digital
Unix behind.
Yes I know I could upgrade to 4.0x but I could also wipe the lot and
go to win NT.
I now have to draft a message that explains why our major UNIX/WEB/MAIL
server cannot be used as a java development platform(this is by far the most
popular reason that students give for WANTING a Unix account in the first
place).
I wonder if there is a JDK 1.1 for VMS ;)
