Dear managers,
Our users switch off their terminals when they go home while their
application is still running. Next morning they switch it on and continue.
This worked for years but now we are replacing their old DG411 terminals
with VT510's and what happens? Their arrow-keys are not recognized
anymore as such. The codes sent by the terminal are still ok (ESC [ A,
ESC [ B and so on). The application reacts on those keys as single key-
strokes (escape, left bracket and A,B,C or D).
When a VT510 is switched off and on, it sends a rubout (0177) and a
CTRL-Q (021) which does no harm to the application.
This also goes wrong with vi and I can even reproduce it by resetting an
xterm! When the VT510 is powered on, it also goes through the reset
sequence but I can not imagine how this could affect the recognition
of the arrow-key sequences by vi or any other applications (curses-based
also suffers from it).
Thanks in advance for your effort!
