I asked a question about HP X Terms sometimes locking up when
attempting to connect to our alphas running DU 3.2c. This was
my second attempt to find a solution to this problem.
The only reply I got was from Lee Hughes who made this suggestion:
first thing I'd check is the network, make sure you not loosing packets,
X uses alot of UDP transport, so try this first!
This isn't the problem in our case.
I managed to find the solution myself. There's a patch for xdm to fix
this. It is patch ID OSF350X-005 contained within patch kit
ssrt0368u_v32c.
I looked for a patch a few months ago using the web patch service
but didn't find anything. This time I just used ftp to download the
READMEs for all the DU 3.2c patches and grepped for xdm.
I haven't installed the patch yet because it looks like there's
an alternative. There isn't an equivalent patch for 3.2g so I
assume that 3.2g includes it. So we could upgrade to 3.2g instead.
