(unknown charset) Floppy Drive

In trying to use the floppy drive on a 3000/300x , I get the following error:

# fddisk -fmt /dev/rfd0a
Device driver for "/dev/rfd0a" missing.

This is true even if I boot /genvmunix. The config file has the following:

...
...
# Floppy disk controller
controller fdi0 at * vector fdintr
device disk fd0 at fdi0 drive 0
device disk fd1 at fdi0 drive 1
...
...

And the made devices are:

# ls /dev/*fd*
/dev/fd0a /dev/fd0c /dev/rfd0a /dev/rfd0c


And the console message was:

fd failure: FDI was shut down, reason #1-0-0. Reboot to reactivate.


Any suggestions.
