GCC 2.7.2.2 & G77 compilation error

I am having some trouble getting GCC 2.7.2.2 & G77 to compile on my Alpha 500/500. There no
longer seems to be a need to comment out anything from $GCC_SOURCE/cp/errfn.c or from
./config/alpha/alpha.c like there was in 2.7.2.1. I have successfully applied the patch as per
the INSTALL instructions for G77. The 'configure' runs fine. 'make bootstrap' gets pretty far
until it complains about a syntax error. Apparently, the Makefile(s) pass several '-W' switches
to the standard 'cc' compiler. It looks as if this syntax is invalid.

I would like to know if I can simply eliminate this switch (doubtful). If not, then how should
it be altered so that the applications compile correctly.

Thanks.
