Hello Managers,

This is my Mail sent on 19-May-1997:
========================================================================
Our platform is Alpha Server 2000 , Digital Unix 4.0b , Memory 256Mbyte
Oracle 7.3.2 with all the patches to DU4.0b , Unicenter 1.1 .

We had three crashes on the system , the process that was at the CPU was
oracle process in all cases.

the panic message was :

> 0 boot(0x0, 0xfffffc000e718000, 0x2c0000002c, 0x2d, 0xa00000001) ["../../../.
./src/kernel/arch/alpha/machdep.c":2466, 0xfffffc0000501e18]

   1 panic(s = 0xfffffc0000676530 = "kernel memory fault")
["../../../../src/ker
nel/bsd/subr_prf.c":791, 0xfffffc000027b0ac]
pcpu = 0x8000000000

mycpu = 0
spl = 0

   2 trap() ["../../../../src/kernel/arch/alpha/trap.c":1512,

t = 0xfffffc0000676438
pcb = 0xffffffff90bcfa38
task = 0xfffffc00055d1500
p = 0xfffffc00055d1720

The IPC paramters are:
ipc:
msg-max = 32768
msg-mnb = 65535
msg-mni = 128
msg-tql = 256
shm-max = 41943040

shm-mni = 512
shm-seg = 150
sem-mni = 512
sem-msl = 500
sem-opm = 50
sem-ume = 50
sem-vmx = 32767
sem-aem = 65536
num-of-sems = 60
max-kernel-ports = 24791

port-reserved-max-num = 24791
set-max-num = 1797
ssm-threshold = 8388608
ssm-enable-core-dump = 1

Yesterday we activated the Unicenter after three months we didn't use
it. We didn't make any majore changes in the system and back then it
worked without causing any problems, I am not saying it caused the
problem today ,but we had the crashes since we activated it yesterday.
Now I shutdown the Unicenter and since then the System work without any
problems.
========================================================================

The only response I got was from Norm Thomas and this is the time to
thank him, and he suggested to download patches.tar from
ftp.atlanta.service.digital.com site.

Unfortunaly the problem is new even to Digital UNIX kernel team, and
they are working on a way to solve the problem. Recently I involved
Unicenter support and they are working toghter to solve the problem.

Best
 regards,
