Hello!

Thanks to all, who answered to my questions. There are much informative
messages below.

But I have second part of this question :-) Is DU need reconfiguration for
new device, inserted in it (such as videcard)? Or it detect it
automatically?

DU 3.2 (and 4.0) support only DEC cards on an ongoing basis. Jay
Eastabrook, who reads this list, used to work on support for 3rd party
graphics processors until DEC cancelled the support program several
years ago. I purchased an evaluation card with a state-of-the-art
graphics card on the advice from the vendor that DEC supported it. How
wrong they were! DEC supports only the graphics processors which Jay
wrote drivers for long ago: Mach 64, Trio 64 and Vision 864 cards.
All these processors have limited memory capacity (1 or 2 MB), which
usually limits their resolution to 1024x768 or 1600x1200 at 256
colors.

*** Note, that I couldn't start Trio64V+ with 2Mb under DU 3.2c
*** Who is wrong?

On what systems? You should be able to find a copy of the
Digital UNIX V3.2C SPD on gatekeeper.dec.com, under /pub
        somewhere. The workstations fall into three classes;
TURBOchannel systems, an EISA system and PCI systems.

*** Note, that I didn't find need information under this directory.
*** There isn't fault of alan_at_. I have too slow link, that
*** don't give me ability to browse all this tree.

On the older turbochannel machines, there is the J300 (partnumber
AV300-AA). It inputs/outputs compisite video (PAL, NTSC and maybe SECAM
(not sure)). It supports ITU-R size video, i.e. 720 x 576 at 25 Hz for
PAL/SECAM and 720 x 488 at 30 Hz for NTSC. Costs abt. 2500 US$

On the PCI machines, there are the FullVideo and FullVideo Supreme. The
first one is similar in performance to the one above, but costs much less.
The second also inputs/outputs S-Video, and does hardware JPEG
compression/decompression. Not expensive neither.

Both run okay on 4.0. but will probably do on 3.2 too.
