Thanks to the following guys for their replies :-)

Tom Webster <webster_at_ssdpdc.mdc.com>
Brenden Phillips <B.C.Phillips_at_massey.ac.nz>

I'll be try out some combinations from the Decserver90M MJ8(RJ45) to
the HP's 9pin serial port.

Here are the replies from Tom and Brenden,

It is a null modem cable. If you have a console management cable for
your hub (RJ45->MMJ cable with an MMJ->DB9 (or DB25) adapter), it
should be the same pinout.

The DEChub ONE manual has the pinouts for the DB9 and RJ45 ends, but
the DEChub 900 manual actually gives some nice wire diagrams. I took a
quick look at the pinouts in the DECserver90M manual ports and that
configuration should work for you. You can find all of these manuals
on DEC's network products site in PDF and postscript formats:

I just had to make up a bunch of cable for going from a AS255/233 to
a 90M

RJ45 DB9
 1 ------------ NC +--------+
 2 ------------ 3 |12345678|
 3 ------------ NC | |
 4 ------------ 5 | |
 5 ------------ 5 +-+ +-+
 6 ------------ 2 +----+
 7 ------------ NC ||
 8 ------------ NC ||
                              || RJ45, looking at the pins
If that doesn't work, swap 2 and 3 on the DB9
