SUMMARY: 100Mbit ethetnet on alphaserver 1000a

i received several answers to my question - thank you everyone!

the solution was to set the correct ewa0_mode (in this case namely
fastfd) from the console and add "speed 200" to ifconfig options
in /etc/rc.config for that interface (tu0 for the first adapter).
