Hey gang ...
I'm trying to move my TZ87 to our newer alpha du machine and an having
problems configuring it. Here are the facts:
Machine: Aspen 500mz "Durango"
OS: DU 4.0a
The monitor knows about the device as a "SHOW DEVICE" yields:
  mka500.5.0.9.0 MKA500 TZ87 9514
Running "MAKEDEV tz5" gives following:
  MAKEDEV: special file(s) for tz5:
  rmt0l
  rmt0h
  rmt0m
  rmt0a
  nrmt0l
  nrmt0h
  nrmt0m
  nrmt0a
Running "ls -l *mt*" gives:
  crw-rw-rw- 1 root system 9,5127 Jul 20 14:30 nrmt0a
  crw-rw-rw- 1 root system 9,5123 Jul 20 14:30 nrmt0h
  crw-rw-rw- 1 root system 9,5121 Jul 20 14:30 nrmt0l
  crw-rw-rw- 1 root system 9,5125 Jul 20 14:30 nrmt0m
  crw-rw-rw- 1 root system 9,5126 Jul 20 14:30 rmt0a
  crw-rw-rw- 1 root system 9,5122 Jul 20 14:30 rmt0h
  crw-rw-rw- 1 root system 9,5120 Jul 20 14:30 rmt0l
  crw-rw-rw- 1 root system 9,5124 Jul 20 14:30 rmt0m
Running "mt -f /dev/nrmt0h status" gives:
/dev/nrmt0h: No such device or address
It appears to me that the os is not seeing the tape at all but
the monitor does. I've rebooted as "genvmunix" and run doconfig
to see if the os needed to sense the drive ... but at this point
I'm guessing.
Help. Any hints/suggestions/patches/rtfm's/etc are appreciated.
Thanks, Jon
