Dear Gurus,

My question was:

> Since I recently made a full install of DU4.0B with a RZ29 as my system disk,
> I took the opportunity to create separate filesystems for /, /usr, /var and /tmp.

The overwhelming consensus (although with some discrepencies) is:

                    place /tmp BEFORE /usr

Marie-Claude Vialatte made an interesting point, here is her answer:

> I have put /tmp in "memory file system", by putting in /etc/fstab this
> line (for 100 Mbytes) :
> -s102400 /tmp mfs rw 1 0

> As explained in fstab(4) and mfs(8), with this feature, /tmp takes place

> And it is more easy to change its size.
> BUT, of course, its contents is lost at every shutdown.

I also include A. Rollow's answer:

> You only need to put it before a file system mounted under
> it, which is unlikely for /tmp. I don't think there is a
> mandatory place, but I've never seen the line for the root
