Hi,
I have an application written using the Oracle tools on an AlphaServer 2100
running Digital UNIX 4.0B. The system is configured with 256 MB of memory,
and 628 MB of swap space. On average the system has between 40-50 users
logged on.
The problem is the application takes longer to process with each successive
run - unless the system is rebooted. E.g. the 1st run after a reboot will take
15 mins, the next run approx. 25 mins, the next approx 1hr
and the next approx. 2½ hrs...and so forth until the system is next rebooted.
I have run the Performance Monitoring tools that come with the DU 4.0 Operating
System - that seem to suggest that there may be Virtual Memory problems. I do
however, believe that there is enough Swap space. I am thinking that I need to
increase my Physical memory though. The script also indicated that there was
262MB of Physical Memory and approx. 198 MB of Virtual Memory. There also
seems to be a fairly large amount of paging occurring.
Does anyone has suggestions as to what area(s) should be monitored or modified.
Thanks
Susan
