DEFPA fddi compatible with PC164 motherboard?

Hello,
        We have a new system which contains Digital's PC164 motherboard
and Digital's DEFPA fddi controller (for PCI bus). If I type (on the
console):

>>> show device

the DEFPA does not show up. If I insert the same DEFPA card in an
AlphaStation, the DEFPA does show up as device FWA0, which is correct.
(The PC164 machine will mention the DEFPA card as occupying a unique
PCI bus slot, if I do ">>> show config", but I still cannot select it as a
boot device.)

I need to boot this PC164 machine using fddi. Has anyone gotten a
similar setup to work? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Will
summarize.
