Thanks for the many responses. Summary of responses.

Recap of issue. Basically I will have 400 Gig of database on the near
horizon that needs to backed up nightly/binightly. Oracle running in
Parallel server needs to be ran in raw as opposed to cooked.
Recap of Hardware/Software: Digital 4.0b with Truecluster with EMC
dasd towers, running Oracle 7.3.2.3 Parallel Server and Oracle
Replication.

Possible solutions:
1.Digital resells Legato networker as a Digital tool, need Oracle's
backup manager, Networker business suite module for Oracle, a
special licensing option of networker to run on the Cluster.
Positive: Will be a solid tool , which will sold by vendors and is reliable.
I'm haven't tested but have seen benchmarks. Currenlty there is a issue
with certification between versions between vendors . Supposely
resolved this month.
Negative: PRICEY - roughly 15000 grand per node. We have 2 nodes
and 2 clusters. Thats 60000 for backup software.

2.EMC also has a tool called EMC timefinder. Which basically creates
a mirror of the data that can be broken off and backed up offline.
EMC Datamanager Symetric Connect.
Haven't received any prices yet.
Positive: Rapidily syncronize data between all objects of the mirror.
Speed. Backups are done at the hardware level not incurring os, and
database overhead.
Negative: Disk space cost, software cost.
