Error trying to use atom and third on Unix 4.0b

I have been trying to run the Fuse (4.0) Heap Analyzer, which in turn
runs the following command to analyze my program:

fudge> atom -tool third trace_any
Stack overflow: pid 13061, proc trace_any.tool, addr 0x11fdfffa8, pc 0x12002caac
atom: Error: Command '/tmp/atomAAAaanhpa/trace_any.tool' terminated with receipt
of SIGSEGV signal.
atom: Error: Run atom with the -debug switch to see if the error is in the
instrumentation code.

Is this a known problem? Am I out of date, somehow?
fudge> atom -version
Atom V2.17 February 7, 1996

I am running 4.0b with the latest monumental patch installed.

I looked at the archives and saw lots of praise for atom, but nothing about
problems.

Thanks for any help,

Ed
